Recruitment of Chairperson and Non- Executive Directors

The Family Therapy Training Network: Recruitment of Chairperson and Non-Executive Directors.

The Family Therapy Training Network is seeking committed individuals who can provide strategic leadership to our organisation.

Established in 2012, the Family Therapy Training Network provides professionally and academically accredited, masters-level systemic family psychotherapeutic training to a variety of health, social care and third sector services. Systemic therapy helps people who are in relationships, whether this is children and families who want to change their relationships, or staff teams and organisations who seek to improve communication and coordination of services.

We are a rapidly expanding organization and have a strong board with a range of skills, but following the emigration of a key board member, we are taking the opportunity to review our board’s membership. To increase the diversity of our board, we are looking for three individuals with a range of skills. Most importantly, our board members need to have a commitment to children and families getting the best services, and receiving support to improve their relationships and the quality of their lives.

Chair – The chairperson will provide leadership to the board. The successful candidate will ideally have previous chairing experience from the private, third or public sector; however, we would also welcome applications from trustees, non-executives, or executives who have experience of working to a board, who are looking for their first chair role.

Non-Executive Members – Board members will contribute to the overall governance, financial health and strategic direction of the organisation, alongside our existing experienced directors. Previous board experience is not required, and while we welcome applications from a range of backgrounds, we are particularly interested in hearing from those with the following skills:

Finance and business skills
Legal training, particularly if they have experience in family law

We want our board to be active in our organisation and in addition to four to six board meetings, and our AGM, we welcome attendance at our continuous professional development events. Because of the wide application of the systems and relationship ideas that inform our training, we hope board membership will enhance their skills in their own work context. We are based in Glasgow and reasonable travelling expenses can be reimbursed.

If you have the skills and experience to help our charity deliver high quality training that enhances services for families, please send a CV and covering letter stating your skills and interest in these roles to

Joanna@familytherapytrainingnetwork.org. For an informal conversation please email Kirsty Darwent at kirsty@familytherapytrainingnetwork.org to arrange a time.

The closing date for receipt of applications is 25th September with interviews for the chair and board members taking place in October.
